BSU to produce Opera Night Gala

Performing artists from Bemidji State University prepare for next weekend’s Opera Night, a formal dinner and gala event, led by BSU Opera Theater Director Dr. Cory Renbarger .

“It’s just a night where people come to hang out, eat good food, and what Dr. Renbarger was saying: to do a bit, like, experience a culture, experience great music,” Michael explained. Johann, member of the BSU choir. .

The upcoming Opera Night is meant to serve as a love letter to music culture itself and will include pieces from operas, musicals and several choral works.

“It’s just interesting to see all these genres mixed together,” said choir member Bria Havorson. “In one place, I think [it] really shows that music is cultural, music is there for every person.

The overall goal of the upcoming performance is to provide a one-of-a-kind variety show, showcasing the musical talents of these developing artists for those in the Bemidji area.

“We want to make sure that we create a performance that everyone will enjoy.” said choir member Zenith Lee.

“It’s going to be a talent night that’s just so extraordinary,” Havorson said. “It’s just BSU talent. That’s the word to explain it.

BSU’s Opera Night will take place on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19. If you are interested in attending either performance, tickets must be purchased in advance. More information about Opera Night can be found here.
