Accademia Bizantina, under the musical direction of Ottavio Dantone since 1996, has become a force to be reckoned with in the field of baroque music.

Founded to play “like a great string quartet”, the Accademia Byzantina, under the musical direction of Ottavio Dantone since 1996, has become a force to be reckoned with in the field of baroque music. At ease at the opera and on the concert stage, this superb Italian ensemble recently offered us its first production under its own label, Handel’s Rinaldo. David Vickers wrote that “the band’s playing juxtaposes vigor and precision” while, reviewing an album of Vivaldi’s violin concertos with the conductor as soloist, Charlotte Gardner commented that the Accademia Bizantina “is finely nuanced, nimble and tightly together, and gently delicacies delicacy.Their continuo is particularly magical.
