DIE LUSTIGE WITWE 2.0 will be back on the main stage of the Opera from October 1, 2021. Tickets are now on sale

Experience Lehár’s legendary operetta overflowing with melodic evergreens in an all-new modern and satirical reinterpretation by Adam Price staged by Kasper Holten.

History takes a fresh look. The ambassadorial evenings of the original operetta have been replaced by contemporary scenes familiar to Danish cultural circles strapped for funds. Nonetheless, there’s still a romantic entanglement in the air – as the self-obsessions of our times melt into caustic satire.

Theater manager Zeta takes a look at a vital sponsorship from Hanna Glawari, the coveted “merry widow” of a wealthy pig farmer in Jutland. The famous Grisettes will never be the same again after Hanna’s big gala at home in the pigsty.

Naturally, the magnificent score accompanying the gaiety is by Franz Lehár, whose cavalcade of catchy arias sends the dancers on a whirlwind tour.

Let Lehár’s charming melodies tickle your heart strings, while an ensemble of star soloists accompanied by the Royal Danish Orchestra and the Royal Danish Opera Chorus offer their interpretations of “Vilja Lied”, “Da geh” ich zu Maxim “and “Die lustige” Witwe Waltz ‘.
