HDFC Bank: adds 51 Gold Loan Desks to its network in Uttar Pradesh
- The Bank now has 170 gold lending offices in the state
- The Bank further plans to open gold lending offices in all of its state branches by the end of this fiscal year.
Lucknow, June 16, 2022: HDFC Bank, India’s leading private sector bank, today announced the addition of 51 Gold Loan counters to its branch network in Uttar Pradesh. With the addition of 51 new gold lending offices, 170 state bank branches will now be able to offer gold lending.
The Bank is working to make all of its state branches capable of processing gold loans in the current fiscal year. This facility will allow people to get the most out of their idle gold with minimal documentation and fee transparency. Gold Loans are available with flexible term and repayment options – terms ranging from 3 months to 36 months.
Gold loan seekers include a diverse segment ranging from salaried and self-employed categories. People exploring quick loans for a short duration with minimal documentation will benefit from this facility.

At a reception held in the city, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Brajesh Pathak inaugurated the gold lending offices in the presence of HDFC Bank officials, Mr. Akhilesh Kumar Roy, Bank Branch Manager – Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand; and Mr. Anil Khugshal, Regional Rural Chief.
“We are delighted to introduce 51 gold lending offices in state bank branches. Additionally, we are working to make gold lending available at all HDFC bank branches in Uttar Pradesh. This will help the general public to borrow against idle gold to meet their financial needs/requirement,” said Mr. Akhilesh Kumar Roy, Bank Branch Manager – Uttar Pradesh, HDFC Bank. “We are seeing an increased demand for gold loans and this demand is coming from customers in semi-urban and rural areas, who are turning away from unorganized moneylenders and pawnbrokers, to the organized sector like banks. pawnbrokers and pawnshops are not only unregulated, but also charge higher interest rates.”
