Here’s another wonderful update to the historic Arcane Town Hall and Opera House window project. You may have noticed signs in the windows. They offer the possibility of sponsoring the restoration of windows. The price depends on the size and complexity of the window. Interested in sponsoring a showcase? Other sponsors announced last week are: Arcanum High School Class of 1981, the Shank Family, Tom and Barb Troutwine, and the Darke County Endowment for the Arts.

The Arcanum Physical Activity Center (APAC) has reopened and is available for membership. Please contact if you are interested in purchasing an APAC membership, you can email the Director of Sports, Abbey Moore at [email protected] or you can drop by the Superintendent’s office to complete the ‘registration.

Have you already received your ticket? The Arcanum Fire Department is hosting a fundraiser for the Pork Chop Dinner on July 25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $ 10 each and lunches will be available for pickup at the fire hall at 208 Main Street South on July 25. Dinner will include a pork chop, fries, applesauce and a bun. Contact an FD member to purchase tickets or contact Chef Kurt Troutwine at 937-459-6405.

The Arcanum Preservation Society has decided to open a limited number of places for food trucks for the July 4th Old-Time Picnic and Children’s Parade. If you are interested, please message APS on their Facebook page. You must have proof of a current certificate from the insurance and health department. Electricity is available but no water / sewer. Because the notice is short, they waive any entry fee.

A July 4th community church service will be held at 10 a.m. at Ivester Park Shelter # 1. This service is sponsored by Arcanum Faith UMC and Gordon Grace UMC / St. Matthew ELCA Partnership. The worship service with Special Chaplain Jill Bryan will make you laugh and leave you speechless with her magic while teaching the gospel of Jesus.

The APS is also planning a community barbecue at the Opera on July 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. They plan to hit the grill that day and serve up burgers and hot dogs for a donation. They will be open until 1 p.m. or as soon as they run out of food, whichever comes first.

A combined Arcanum High School reunion will be hosted by the 1970s AHS classes, any AHS graduate is welcome to attend. The event will take place on August 21, 2021 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the American Legion, 325 North Ohio Street, Greenville, Ohio. DJ Opie will be there to keep the tunes going throughout the evening. Hope you can plan to have some fun – light snacks will be provided, cash bar and casual dress expected.
