Opera Naples Summer Opera Film Series presents Ariadne auf Naxos

Opera Naples will present “Ariadne auf Naxos” (Baden Baden Festpielhaus) with Renée Fleming during its summer film series of classic European operas, HD at Opera Naples. The screenings will take place at 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on August 3, on the large high-definition LED screen of the Wang Opera Center. Adult tickets are $22; student tickets are $10. Free popcorn will be provided, along with refreshments available for purchase.

Shot live in Baden-Baden by veteran director Brian Large, this version features the talented trio Renée Fleming, Sophie Koch and Christian Thielemann. Fleming dazzles in her debut role as the rejected “Ariadne,” confirming her one-of-a-kind stage presence. Philippe Arlaud, director and scenographer, emphasizes colors, humor and sets, staging the opera with a brilliant palette of varied colors and contrasting effects.
