Songs From Here features locally written and performed poetry and songs
Sarah Tuttle
Songs From Here featuring classical soprano Sarah Tuttle and pianist Bridget Convey will be presented at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 14 at the Arts Center Denmark.
Songs From Here is a new initiative by Maine musicians to cultivate and celebrate locally written and performed poetry and song. The project is a series of performances featuring a program that highlights the poetry of New England. The centerpiece of the musical program is a world premiere of a new song cycle by Erica Ball featuring exclusively Maine poets. The performance features readings from local poets, creating a seamless and intuitive program of poetry and song that showcases local creativity. Local poets Lisa Moore, Gregory Brown and Winter Summer will intertwine their lyrics with Songs From Here.
The Songs From Here team hopes this project will grow to connect poets, composers, and performers from across Maine, cultivate a song culture in our state, and provide the foundation for a network to foster collaborations and strengthen the artistic community.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.denmarkarts.org/events.
