Soundstreams announces new executive director


Soundstreams has appointed Toronto Artistic Director, Producer and Managing Director Beth Brown as its new Managing Director.

Brown joins Artistic Director, Founder Lawrence Cherney, while Emma Fowler, who has served as Interim Executive Director, will resume her role as Director of Art Planning and Outreach, effective November 1.

“I am impressed with the passion and commitment of the staff and the board, as well as the breadth of work that Soundstreams produces during each season and I hope my work can reach not only local communities. , but also nationally. and international, ”Brown said in an official statement.

“I am delighted to welcome new Executive Director Beth Brown. Beth brings extensive experience in artistic leadership as the organization has almost 40 years of existence. I welcome Coco Chen and Rebecca Cuddy, ”said Daniel Weinzweig, Chairman of the Board of Soundstreams.

Brown received a Bachelor of Music from Queen’s University and then studied Technical Theater Production at the National Theater School of Canada. After graduation, Brown worked as a stage manager and production manager on productions in Toronto and abroad for many years. Brown is also a member of the board of directors of the Toronto Performing Arts Alliance (TAPA), where she chairs the nominating committee for Dora’s jury nominating committee.
